Hey, hey!
I hope you had a fantastic weekend. As you know my kiddos started school last Monday so for the past two weeks I haven’t really accomplished as much as I had planned. I’m hoping to catch up and get things moving in the living room again. I’m almost finished with the gallery wall. Almost all of the items I used I had on hand so none of the art cost me a thing. I did spend a small fortune on Command strips because I change my mind a lot and they are so EASY to use! This TV gallery wall is looking much better now.
Today I’m sharing some DIY wall art that I’ve been working on and an almost finished gallery wall. Everything is in place but some frames are not filled and I have one more piece of art to work on.
Up first is a painted canvas. The colors I’m aiming for on the gallery wall are white, black, and gold with wood tones & textures throughout. The canvas I painted is white and gold with a geometric pattern. I used a yardstick to lightly draw out my lines (no measuring, just drawing lines then filling them in!)
Next I framed some scrapbook paper, then cut out another piece of scrapbook paper that had the words “LOVE” on it. Speaking of love, I am so head over hills for this scrapbook paper I bought at Michael’s! It’s all black and white with gold foil. Perfect for me!
I also printed these feather images and then used a gold Sharpie paint pen (we’re BFFs!) to trace one then just used a black gel pen to trace the others. They were originally green and blue, which was very cute but not the look I’m going for. I then just put them in a 5×7 frame
I also used my paint pen on a couple of old wood frames I had laying around. I made them look a little campaign-ish with faux brackets on each corner. I’ve also used some random pieces of wood I had a round the house to add that tone and texture. The round piece of wood is the bottom of a dome cloche. The square wood piece used to be a coaster holder. Use what ya got, right?!
Here’s a little reminder of the before right after we moved in with terrible brown paint and lots of stuff just hanging around:
After paint and hanging frames, I still wasn’t in love with it:
Now the final after. I love it now!
Please ignore that TV cord, I still haven’t quite figured out what to do with it. GRRR! Like I mentioned, I still have a few empty frames and a small canvas to do something with 🙂 The long board on the left side will get something added to it as well. I’ll definitely update you guys when it’s finished!
Have you created a gallery wall in your home? I’m not going to lie, I have struggled with this wall for some reason. I finally just had to start sticking stuff up on the wall. I am NOT a fearless DIY’er/decorator. I over think things and I struggle sometimes! I hope that makes people feel better about doing things in their own home 🙂
Love this so much Leigh Anne! It looks so great and I love how the TV overlaps some of the art!
Thanks Bre!! I’m glad to have it done and I think it looks a lot better than before!
Great job Leigh Anne! It makes the room look even wider! I just finished the start of a little gallery wall in our office and hope to have the post up this week. Just the few pieces makes a room look so much more done, and I still have plenty of room for it to grow 🙂
Love your gallery wall!!
Oh my goodness Leigh Anne! What a transformation! You would never know that you’re not quite done! It really looks amazing!!!
Looks just great! Pinning!
Thank you Amy!!
Great gallery wall. Love the gold feathers you created. Thank you—I am totally not a fearless DIYer either. But I’m working on it ; ]
Thanks Jennifer!!
It looks SO great! I love the painted canvas and the gold feathers…copying for my next house 🙂
Thanks and definitely copy away!
It looks GREAT! I love the gold and white canvas!
