Hey, hey!
I hope you had a super awesome weekend. We prepped for the first day back to school, which is TODAY for my kiddos. Today is also my birthday and what better way to celebrate than giving y’all a little tour of my home and what makes Houseologie work?!
The lovely Tasha from Designer Trapped in a Lawyer’s Body invited me to join the “Touring through Blogland” caravan. She’s just the best and her blog/home is beautiful. This is a great way to get to know me better and at the end you’ll be able to visit a couple other bloggers as well.
I don’t really like to be in pictures and neither does my husband so there aren’t many of us but there are a gazillion of our three kiddos. We are a tad goofy and rarely take ourselves too seriously. Here we are at the Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco:
We have a long way to go on our house. I’ve finished a few spaces but have many more that haven’t even been touched in the almost two years we’ve lived in our here. Here’s our house all snow covered and made into a watercolor:
Here a few spaces and projects we’ve worked on inside:
Living Room (In Progress)
Swiss Cross Painted Drop Cloth Curtains
Hanging Planter // Blanket Ladder // Gold Studded Plank Wall // Wood Arrow
DIY Rug with Tassels // Picture Frames
Dining Room
Board and Batten // Bar Cart // Painted Ikat Curtains
Β Like I said, we have a LOOOONG way to go but we’re enjoying every minute of it! So, onto the questions I’m supposed to answer.
WHAT AM I WORKING ON NOW?
I’m currently working on giving our living room a little update. It’s slow moving and I have a huge sectional to work around. I’m also planning a big bathroom makeover for our downstairs bathroom that includes updated tile and a rustic glam look I can’t wait to share. I have a few other projects up my sleeve, which is usually the case around here!
HOW DOES MY WORK DIFFER FROM OTHERS IN MY GENRE?
I think my work differs in that I have no real working knowledge of what I’m doing. I just sort of dive in and hope for the best. Typically, things work out in the end, sometime I fail. I always try again though π Blogging is a wonderful thing that I can’t believe I waited so long to try.
WHY DO I WRITE/CREATE WHAT I DO?
I LOVE decorating. I mean walking into a room that I’ve basically made with my two hands feels AMAZING. I live for it. I DIY because it feels good to accomplish something from nothing. And because I can’t afford to buy everything I want! LOL! Who can?! I love to write about DIY and Home Decor because I think a lot of people are afraid to try this. I want people to see anyone can do it as long as you love it!
HOW DOES MY WRITE/CREATIVE PROCESS WORK?
This is a hard one for me. I don’t really know! Sometimes I’m just sitting around and DING!! things come to me that I can try. Sometimes I see something WAAAAY overpriced in a magazine or online and think “I can totally make that for sooo much less!” Sometimes I see a room I love and think about how I can create the same feeling but add my own twist to it. It’s weird but sometimes right on the edge of sleep I think of something amazing to do. I’m really passionate about my home and DIY, so I let my feelings lead my process.
Alright, now that I’ve gone on and on, here are a couple more bloggers for you to learn more about. Have fun touring their homes/blogs!!
First up is Deonna from Child at Heart. She’s super sweet and SO SO talented! I love reading her blog for the cute DIY/Craft tutorials but also for blog tips and posts related to being a stay at home mom. She is very encouraging! One of my favorite projects from Deonna is this cute Back To School Teacher Gift. I think if you give Child at Heart a visit you’ll love it too!
Next up is Corinna from For My Love Of! She is the queen of decorating on a budget and thinking of original DIY’s to transform a room! Her DIY office space is fantastic. You will most certainly be inspired by Corinna’s blog. Her duct tape curtains and her Fish Bowl Copper Hanging Lights are a couple of my favorite projects! Hope on over and enjoy the view!
Thanks for touring with me today and enjoy the rest of the featured tours!
