Hey friends! Hope you are enjoying December! We’ve had the plague around here but everyone is starting to feel better now. I think I need a maid though, any takers? I can pay you in cups of hot chocolate? 😉
As you can tell it’s Monthly DIY Challenge time! My friends and I have come together to bring you some adorable projects using clean Christmas ornaments. If you aren’t familiar with this challenge, once a month we pick an item to work with and set to parameters on what we can do with that one item. Here’s what I came up with.
Now isn’t he just adorable? This is what you will need to make your own Rudolph.
What You Will Need:
1 Paper Deer (I bought this one at Michael’s)
1 clear Christmas ornament (as you can see mine is NOT clear because I couldn’t find a clear one in the size I needed within a 50 mile radius of my house. What is up with that??!)
1 string of battery operated LED lights in Red (Mine came from the Dollar Tree)
1 Dremel Micro (although if you have the right ornament this is not necessary, I’ll explain more below)
How to DIY Your Own Rudolph
First I had to make the hole in my ornament bigger. This ornament is clear but it had gold and white glitter all over it. It’s also plastic (not glass) and the hole in it was too small for me to fit my LED lights through so I had to use my Dremel Micro with a sanding tip on it to make the hole bigger. It took about 30 seconds.
Once I had the hole in the ornament I also put a hole in my paper deer head, right around where his nose would be. I used the Dremel again to make the hole large enough.
Next I hot glue the ornament to the deer and flipped it over. I threaded my lights through the back and the batter pack just sits inside the deer head. I hung it with a clear Command hook.
Here he is all finished and looking so handsome! I just love him!
Be sure to visit all of the other blogs to see their clear ornament projects, there are some really great ones!
