Hey friends! Our Master bedroom makeover plans and bathroom makeover plans kind of got put on the back burner over the past couple of weeks. We’ve been “Summer busy”. You get that way when you have three kiddos out of school, your husband has an unexpected surgery, and you are planning a big fundraiser at your “real job”, aka my day job.
I think we’re finally at a point though, where we can start working on it again. So our Master bedroom….It is baby poop yellow. It’s GROSS. And I’ve lived with it like this for 4+ years because, while I love DIY and decorating spaces, I HATE painting walls with a fiery passion. I’m not sure why? Raise your hand if you hate painting too? And if I’m not ready to go full throttle on a room makeover I don’t see the point in painting it yet. So baby poop yellow it is, every night I curse the walls. And the ceiling is painted brown. I don’t know who thought this was a good idea. The only saving grace in this room is it’s a decent size and there is nice crown moulding and thick baseboards and original wood floors that are in good shape.
Master Bedroom Makeover Plans
WALLS – White walls….mostly. Three of the 4 walls will be off-the-shelf white. I know, bug surprise. I painted the hallway, the dining room and Sophia’s bedroom white also. Which leads me to the next item on the list. Black wall…That 4th wall will be black but with a fun wall treatment. Black washed wood grain. There’s a hint as to what it will look like behind the leaning mirror in the mood board. Can’t wait to start this and show y’all!
SLIDING DOOR – Those louvered doors you see in the mood board are huge. I actually won a shopping spree last year in a contest at our Habitat for Humanity ReStore. I got these doors knowing I could make them into an awesome sliding door. This will go on our Master bathroom door.
BED – I’m absolutely head over heels for this bed. But….I don’t know if it’s going to happen. I HOPE so but we shall see. I will keep you updated. It’s from Wayfair and it is gorgeous, don’t you think? And these sheets! We absolutely LOVE our bedface sheet set. Ours is “Greyscale” and they just keep getting softer with every wash.
RUG – Super plush white rug with black diamonds and fringe. Perfect.
WALL SCONCES – I bought 2 of these at Target over 2 months ago for a steal! They definitely look high-end but the pricetag was easy on the wallet!
ACCESSORIES – IKEA nightstands, Black + White art, a Fiddle Leaf Fig, these pillows and this pillow. I’m loving this leaning mirror but it is a bit out of my price range. Hoping to find or DIY a similar one somewhere. Help a girl out? A plant and planter was necessary, of course!
I want this space to be minimal, but also cozy and relaxing. I love monochrome spaces like this but with added texture from wood, concrete, plush rugs and soft throw blankets. I’m so excited to start working! I’m hoping to have the dreaded painting sone by the end of this week. Look forward to an update coming soon! I’ll also show you the gross before photos in the update post next week. I hope you’re ready. It’s gross 😉
Minimal + Cozy + Relaxed Master Bedroom
As far as our bathroom goes… You remember our closet got a makeover, then one of our bathroom walls got a fun Flamingo stencil. All of the upper walls are now painted black as well. Unfortunately for us, that bathroom has 2 shades of blue tile on the lower walls and all in the shower surround. Not cute. So we’re going to paint it using Rustoleum Tub & Tile. This project really has be dragging my feet. All of that washing, scrubbing & sanding just makes me wanna run away. But it HAS to be done. I’ll share later in the week our design plans for the bathroom.
