Hey y’all!
Hope your weekend was the best!!!
With the hallway makeover done I was really itching to get started on another room in our house.
I’d like to go for it on our living room. I painted it (Martha Stewart Driftwood Grey) a few months after we moved in but since then it’s just sort of sat there undecorated. I recently refinished a Moroccan side table for this room and painted some Swiss Cross curtains. I do have the TV hanging and a picture gallery around the TV (some frames are still empty!). This room is long, narrow and there is not one wall that doesn’t have a door, window or fireplace on it. This makes it hard for me to place furniture. Needless to say, I was in a design rut in this room.
Now, y’all know I’m a DIY girl through and through but sometimes you just need a little help, a little nudge in the right direction to get things on track and moving forward. This is where Roomations came in!
Roomations is a website that connects you with interior designers who will prepare a complete design and shopping list for any room in your home before you start the dirty work. How awesome does that sound?! It only takes a few quick steps to get the process started.
First, you select a few pictures from their choices to figure out your style. So easy! Then you upload a few pictures of your space, answer a few questions and pick your designer. After you’ve picked your designer they will create a style board for your room for you to review then you’ll get your final vision and shopping list.
Here’s the style board my chosen designer made for the living room:
They number each item and provide some commentary. After you purchase a style board you also get 3 months of designer service, so you can email them with any questions you have. That’s great service!
My designer suggested we paint our fireplace, which was already on my to do list. We are in the market for new furniture toom as our sectional is way too big and awkward for this room.
I love it! I especially love that World Market rug and the grey cabinets from IKEA. Totally do-able items and stores to shop at. Now that I have some direction I can start shopping for a few items and start DIYing a few more things for the room.. I can’t say enough about how easy this process was plus there are several options/pricing depending on what you want. You can get some design advice for as little as $20.
And even better, Houseologie readers can get 30% off any Roomations design package with the code ROOM30!!
Do you have a room that is just a thorn in your side? A difficult room to decorate? Have you received outside design advice when you were stuck in a rut?
First of all, I LOVE the grey paint color, and think you have a BEAUTIFUL living room. I’m a huge fan of your blog and look forward to seeing how you DIY your space!!
Thanks Robert!!
