Hey Hey! I know sometimes it’s easy to think bloggers have it all together. Not me, of course, it’s clear I don’t but I still want to show you that I totally fail sometimes. Do you remember my ladder shelf post? It was….interesting, to say the least. I loved the idea of the shelf but my execution was lacking and I didn’t go with my gut on the finishing touches. I painted it the same color as my laundry room/craft room ceiling. The mint color works there, but here it’s just not happening. Here’s a refresher.
Then to take it even further I put matching knobs on because they were easy to pick up at HomeGoods. Just, no. If you are on my blog for 5 minutes you already know I’m not huge on color. I love neutrals, black, white, wood and texture. Those are my go-to decorating choices. This ladder shelf went against all of those personal choices/rules. Sometimes you see so many ideas on Pinterest and from other bloggers that you can lose yourself a little. I think that’s what happened to me.
But rest assured, I fixed my mistake this weekend and now my ladder shelf looks like this!
Much better, right? Much more “me”. I’m using it to store gardening supplies, quarts of paint and some pet supplies right now. Ideally, I’d like it up in my bedroom or my master bath. Those rooms are in the making but it will probably be months before you ever get a glance at them!
DIY Ladder Shelf Changes
All I did was repaint the legs with my favorite black chalky finish paint then I added these DIY leather pulls which are SO EASY. I used the same method on my dining room credenza. You can see that tutorial over here. I’m so happy with the results especially after hating this thing for months!
I love it for two reasons. Firstly, it is 100% more stylish and secondly, 110% more you!
It looks gorgeous! I love the leather pulls on the drawers!
