Hey hey! It’s time for another Monthly DIY Challenge! With it being January, the month for all things ORGANIZATION, we thought we’d all make something that is centered around organizing. Be sure to check out all of the other projects for this month by clicking the links at the bottom of this post.
I decided to make something from leftover crib drawers I have been saving since my daughter (who is now 5!) grew out of her crib. She had a crib that had a dresser connected to one end. I turned one of the crib sides into a Bulletin Board!
I decided to make a DIY Ladder shelf organizer, but instead of shelves there would be drawers. I already had the drawers so all I spent was under $15 on 1×2’s and screws! I wanted my drawers to be staggered like a ladder, so I had to shorten them since they were all the same size.
I simply unscrewed the pieces, used a hacksaw to shorten the sides, then used a utility knife to shorten the bottom piece that holds items in the drawer.
Next I laid the drawers down on the floor and decided how far I wanted them spaced apart. Then I started screwing in my pre-cut 1×2’s. After everything was screwed in I filled the screw holes with wood filler.
And voila! A ladder shelf from crib drawers!
Now, I know what you’re thinking. It’s not finished! I just COULD NOT decide on what color to paint it so I thought it would be fun to have y’all vote on the color! Sound like fun?! Make sure to vote below and next week I will update y’all with the finished shelf!
Talk about repurposing. Dang! I love this!
Thanks so much Kristine! Not gonna lie, I thought some really bad curse words while making this but it turned out in the end!
