This bedroom was created entirely by DIY projects and it’s one of my favorite rooms to date. this kids’ gender neutral bedroom makeover was so much fun to work on and I hope it’s enjoyed for years to come!
Sophia’s Bedroom (she’s 6!) is finallllllly finished. The hold up was her light fixture. It was a pain in the rear to get installed, because we live in an OLD HOUSE that presents new challenges all the time. We just grit our teeth, occasionally throw things and say a few expletives…But alas, without further needless blabbing from me here’s a remind of the before:
And here’s the beautiful, if I do say so myself, AFTERS!!
DIY Leather + Wood shelves. You can find my full tutorial over at Designer Trapped in a Lawyer’s Body.
I LOVE these feather prints from Graham & Brown. You can read more about them here.
Me absolute favorite thing in this room, the focal wall where I stapled Marimekko fabric up. LOOOOOOVE.
Let’s not forget the little mouse door we painted and hung up. It’s still a favorite of Sophia’s.
This light fixture is a $30 thrift store find. It came with an ugly gold 1970’s swag kit and chain. Not cute. I replaced it with a light kit from Home Depot and a nice ceiling medallion because that’s a lot easier than painting the ceiling after taking down that ginormo fan you saw a few photos back.
This little chair came from VERY humble beginnings. Check out the before photo!
I found this stuffed animal deer head at a consignment sale for $5 and snatched it right up! I love a cheap find that works perfect in a space I’m creating.
I used some old wood boxes that I wasn’t using anymore to hang on the wall. Now she has a little place to sit some of her mini animal figures, which she is absolutely obsessed with!
I love all of the subtle pattern I added on top of the bold fabric wall in this room. It just works. This bedroom is definitely one of my favorite projects I’ve ever worked on. What do you think? Any gender neutral bedrooms in your house?
