Have you ever wondered how to make pepperoni rolls? In West Virginia, pepperoni rolls are THE food. Everyone loves them, everyone has an opinion about them. I just think they’re OKAY but my kiddos looooove them. Since we moved to Colorado and can’t find them in stores I decided to make them myself. When I posted to my personal Facebook page about making them, lots of people asked for the recipe so I thought I’d post it here for everyone to see. Now, I’m no food blogger and my food pictures are ummm, not great. But, you’ll get the point and these pepperoni rolls are perfect for school lunches! I also make a batch JUST CHEESE rolls for my vegetarian. You can add a small cup of marinara but my kids prefer a little ranch if anything, to dip the pepperoni rolls in.
How To Make Pepperoni Rolls
Ingredients:
Pepperoni slices
Mozzarella Cheese (you can use cubed or shredded)
Frozen yeast rolls
Non-stick cooking spray
Directions:
Spray a cookie sheet or glass casserole dish with non-stick cooking spray then plop your frozen rolls on and let them thaw and rise. I don’t have a specific time frame because it will depend on your kitchen temperature and (as I’m learning) your altitude. The rolls should at least double in size, once they have you can start stuffing!
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Pick up a roll in the palm of your hand, lay 5-6 pepperoni slices in the center and put a pinch of shredded or a cube of mozzarella on top of the slices. then just fold over the edges of the dough and pinch together. Lay them back on the pan and pop them in the oven.
They will cook in about 10-15 minutes, just watch for them to turn golden brown. Yes, some of your cheese will leak out of the rolls and this is the perk of making these! EAT THE LEAKED CHEESE. It is THE BEST thing ever.
Let the rolls cool then put them in an air tight container in the refrigerator. Kiddos can eat them cold or warm them up for 10 seconds. Ours never last long and I make 36 at a time. I’ve never tried freezing them but according to this article you can freeze already baked rolls so give it a try if you’re into that kind of thing 😉 Enjoy the rolls and let me know if you make them!!

Love that you shared pepperoni rolls with your readers! You are right, they are THE food in West Virginia. We always take them with us when we visit someone out of state. I hope you children will always remember WV pepperoni rolls!
They always will, and WV will always be “where they’re from” ❤️😍
Would be nice if they had a printer ready option to print out.
