Hey Hey! It’s December, yay!! I was invited by Sondra from Sondra Lyn at Home to participate in the 1st annual ‘Home for the Holidays’ blog tour. I hope you’re ready for some gorgeous Christmas inspiration!
Some really fantastic bloggers have come together to offer you Home for the Holidays! That’s 5 days of Christmas trees, decor, entertaining and more! Make sure you visit the other blogs that are linked up at the bottom of this post to soak up all of the Christmas goodness.
I thought I’d share how I DIY’d this Lucite frame for some simple Christmas decor.
I added a Christmas print to it that I found on Pinterest (that led to no source, sorry!) but you could add whatever you wanted. The print was supposed to be glittery gold but obviously that doesn’t come through on a printer. I used a Gold Sharpie Paint pen to trace the gold parts for a shimmery look.
You can get these acrylic sheets cut to size at Lowe’s. I had this piece leftover from my DIY bulletin board. I had to cut it myself this time though. I just marked the size I needed and used a sharp box cutter to score the line over and over. After several passes I was able to snap it off where I needed to.
I clamped the two pieces together then marked where I wanted to drill my screw holes. I marked about 1 1/2 inches in. then pre-drilled the hole slowly with a drill bit that matched my screw size.
For the screws I used #8 – 1/2 inch brass machine screws and 1/2 inch brass nuts from Lowe’s. They were $1.24 per pack. I made this frame for less than $4 since I had the clear acrylic on hand. The whole sheets, which are huge, are around $15 for this thickness I think. Think of all the possibilities since the print can easily be changed out!
