Hey there. Hope you’re enjoying everything your part of the world has to offer in this season. We’re enjoying crisp Fall mornings, gorgeous leaves and it’s almost Halloween, which my kids are super stoked about. Around this time every year I start thinking about sending out our family Christmas cards. I’ll admit, in the past several years, I’ve moved away from sending out cards. Not for any reason other than it seems like a lot of work. I miss it and I always love receiving the cards so I want to get back into sending ours out. I started looking for a simplified way to handle, even possibly ENJOY, the task this year.
When I found Minted, I knew just how far things have come since I last sent out Holiday cards several years ago. Minted is a design marketplace. They source creative content from a global community of independent artists, then sell the best content in the form of art, home décor, and stationery, directly to consumers. After I started browsing around their website, I couldn’t believe the talent! Amazing cards to choose from, customization and mailing options. Once I narrowed down my choices (and trust me it was difficult to do!!) I thought it would be nice to give you some of my best tips and show you my favorite cards Minted has to offer!
This post is Sponsored by Minted, but as usual, all thoughts and opinions are my own. Read my full Disclosure Policy here.
+ Picture or No Picture +
We love taking family photos and I think it’s a great idea to add one to your greeting card. Minted has some really fantastic Holiday card options that allow you to add a photo. This is really a personal preference. If you decide to go the no picture route, there are equally lovely options to choose from. A lot of people I know get professional pictures done in November to use on their Greeting card. I think that’s great but getting that done during all of the other overwhelming holiday activities is stressing you out, DON’T SWEAT IT!
+ Choosing a Photo +
Less is truly more when adding a family photo to a Holiday Greeting card. You want your picture to be calm and not busy. Whether it’s just your kiddos or the whole family, you want subtle backgrounds. If your photo is clashing with your card choice you can always use the photo editing Minted provides to make your photo black and white. Got with one or two photos if possible because too many can really clutter up your card. Close up shots of your family’s faces verses full body shots from a distance, work much better. Plus, they feel more personal.
+ Etiquette Matters +
Every year there is a big debate about saying “Happy Holidays” or “Merry Christmas”. Either are fine with me but you need to know your audience. If your cards are going to friends and family you don’t celebrate Christmas, be aware of that and make sure your cards are inclusive. The people you love matter so show them you love them no matter what holiday it is they will be celebrating!
+ Be Sincere +
Minted has some really great “greetings” on their cards but you can also add a personal touch by writing a few words of your own. Be yourself, show appreciation. Your friends and family will love it!
+ Enjoy the Process +
The Holidays are a time of joy. Go into the action of making and sending your cards with a positive outlook instead of dreading the process. This is a wonderful opportunity to show the people you love some appreciation and let them know you are thinking of them. Say a little prayer for each person/address you add, whether you’re using Minted’s mailing service or you’re mailing your own. Make card sending a cherished tradition!
