Hey Hey friends, long time no see 😉 It’s been a VERY eventful couple of weeks around here. Life has happened, a lot. But, I’m happy to say we had a fantastic vacation and I’m so thankful to Corinna from For My Love Of, Sarah from Little Red Brick House and Tasha from Design Trapped in a Lawyer’s Body for guest posting while I was away! Those girls rock the DIY!!
Today I want to share a “Give Thanks” Banner I made for our mantel. Fall is my absolute favorite season for SOOOOO many reasons. I know I’m not alone in that love either. My attention has turned toward Fall decorating and of course the fireplace mantel gets top priority.
This banner was really simple to make. I found the FREE printable banner HERE. I printed it off then cut out the letters with an exacto knife, then used scissors to cut the shape out. I had a lot of leftover cork from this DIY Bulletin & Dry Erase Board so I decided to glue some to the back of the letters. This gave it a nice textural wood look that I really love!
Next I used a Gold Sharpie paint pen to go over the existing orange dots. Black + White + Gold + Wood is so my jam. I love it! Technically it’s not wood but the cork does give that look to it. I stuck two tacks to the underside of our mantel then strung some twine I already had on hand. I used covered clothespins to hang the banner from the twine. I divided the words using a random beer coaster I saved. Yes, I hoard possible craft items 😉
I think it’s adorable, even if a tad early for Thanksgiving. Now you have time to make one for the festivities of Fall too! I feel like the entire Fall season is one of giving thanks. I’m so thankful to have this little space here on the internet and for all of you who stop by to give encouragement!
LOVE it Leigh Anne! SO brilliant to use the wood behind – you’re creativity always blows my mind!
Thanks Kristi!
Love this! It looks great hanging from your mantle 🙂
Thanks Bre!!
I love the cork, Leigh Anne! What a great idea! Your mantle looks so cozy and inviting. Mind if I come over for some hot chocolate? 😉
Thanks! Come on over!
This is really cute Leigh Anne! I love the way the cork looks behind the cutouts!!
Thanks Amy!
Looks great…I have a big bag of leftover cork in my back closet too so I might do someting similar. I still LOVE your painted fireplace 🙂 Looks very fallish 🙂
I want ALL. THE. CORK.! It’s so fun to work with! Thank you for your kind words Deonna 🙂
That banner is AMAZING! I would never guess exactly how hand-made it is. SO professional looking. And the whole fireplace vignette is leaving me quite jealous. I have been daydreaming a lot about having one lately!
Super Cute, Leigh Anne! The cork board behind is the perfect added touch! Hope you enjoyed your vacation!
