I’m back again to share the Garnethurst outdoor tour video with you. It’s still so weird owning a home that has a name. Especially a name I didn’t choose, haha! The grounds are quite nice with beautiful mature trees, including big shade trees and fruit trees that actually produce! Lilacs are everywhere, which I can’t wait to see bloom again in the Spring! There are a couple of little private yards that I can’t wait to host dinners and other fun activities in! It’s a half acre but feels so much bigger than that!
There is a 3 car detached garage and the attic of the garage is 98% finished which was built beautifully by the professionals who are found in https://titangaragedoors.ca/blog/is-a-new-garage-door-going-to-increase-the-value-of-your-home/ site. It has electricity, sheetrock finished out on the walls and that dormer window that swings out. The floors are just subfloor right now but that can easily we remedied! Our whole family has been dreaming of fun ways we could use that space. Any ideas?
Just FYI, these were Instagram stories that I strung together for y’all. Follow me there for lots of fun stories and behind the scenes happenings.
Garnethurst Outdoor Tour
A little backstory, we ACCIDENTALLY toured this house. Full disclaimer: my husband claims he set the entire thing up but I dunno… We were in Colorado for one week to scout out houses and attend his graduation. We woke up early one morning due to time change weirdness so we decided to visit this little town. I had high hopes of moving from a town of 50k to a town with 150k (Grand Junction, CO) though so I wasn’t super hopeful.. We had seen this house listed on Trulia.com but I sort of wrote it off because the interior photos were HORRIBLE and very small town.
But we were visiting this town where Joel would be working (and commuting an hour to and from every day if we lived in GJ) so we decided to drive by and check it out since we knew it was on the historic registry. We were not scheduled with our real estate agent but as soon as I stepped on this property I KNEW. I had chills (in a good way, not a haunted house way LOL!) and could not stop smiling and I had not even seen the inside of the house. The grounds, while they need a lot of cleaning up and trimming back, are absolutely STUNNING.
So once I couldn’t stop smiling we decided to give our agent a call and see if she was available and luck would have it that she was and was only a couple minutes away. This is small town life and I LOVE it!! Once inside I got a little scared and definitely questioned my sanity and my gut that this was THE house. Even though I got butterflies every time I thought about it, the next day we say 10 or 12 houses in Grand Junction. Not a single one did anything for me! It would still be a couple of weeks before I could really take the leap of faith and say YES to this big ‘ol house that needs a lot of love.
We already have started trimming trees and cutting down the awful elms that are popping up everywhere due to neglect. We still have a lot of work to do on it but we spend so much time outside and eat breakfast on the patio almost every single day.
I hope you’ve enjoyed the outdoor tour! Can’t wait to keep sharing more and more of this crazy adventure with y’all!
P.S. Colorado is gorgeous, the weather is amazing and all of you should move here and have lunch with me in the backyard.
