When I was reupholstering these side tables for our Monthly DIY Challenge, I was kinda bummed about the scratches on those lovely little mid-century legs. Besides being scratched they were also filthy. I took a scrubby sponge to them and noticed that the finish looked GREAT when it was all shiny and wet. This sparked an idea and I was so excited about the possibility and the results that I had to share with y’all! This is the easiest way to fix scratched wood.
This is the most simple wood scratch hack you’ve ever seen! And it’s so cheap, if you have the one ingredient in your cabinet it could also be FREE!
How to Fix Scratched Wood
Mineral Oil and a Paper Towel or Rag or whatever.
Yes. That’s it.
I dabbed a little mineral oil on a paper towel and buffed it really good into all 6 table legs and VOILA! they look SOOO much better. Are they perfect? Nope. Are they just fine for my house full of kids and animals and big husband? YES!
Also, if you don’t have Mineral Oil I’m pretty sure you could use another oil that has a long shelf life, like Olive or Grapeseed Oil. So simple and so cheap, my fave combo!
I know what you’re going to do when you’re done reading this. Get up and start fixing ALL. THE. SCRATCHES. Go for it!!
Look at those shiny wood legs!
