Do you ever get a piece of free furniture or find something curbside and you take it thinking you can make it amazing? That happens to me a lot. Then I get it home and it sits, and sits and sits. So I thought I’d start sharing some pieces with all of you and let you tell me whether I should Fix It or Nix It!
I thought it’d be fun to get you awesome readers involved in the fun of making over some furniture! Some of these items might be downright awful but I’ve seen some pretty miraculous makeovers in blogland, so who knows, maybe you have some ideas I didn’t think of!
Here is the first ever Fix It or Nix It?
This is clearly an antique vanity, with dovetailed drawers and everything. My husband’s secretary gave it to me. Let me know in the comments whether I should fix it by giving it a makeover or turning it into something else entirely OR Nix it, which means donating it to the Habitat Restore or other charitable places if it’s too far gone or too much work 🙂
Can’t wait to hear your responses!!
Fix-it
Oh you absolutely must fix it! That thing is just too gorgeous to let go!
Fix it.
I think I would paint it, a soft blue or green. Then give it an antique-style distressed effect. The engravings will really come through as will the wood grain.
Good ideas Edward!
That’s a definite Fix It! I agree with the others, it’s way to sweet to get rid of. Personally, because I’m really into nail art, I’d either stain it or paint it a soft color and use it as a manicure table.
Good idea Candice!
Fix it!!! It’s got A LOT of potential and you have the mad skillz to bring it to life! 🙂
Fix it and take pix!!!!!
Thanks for taking the time to comment! I will certainly post when I’m done with it. Be sure to follow me on Facebook, Pinterest, Hometalk or Google+ so you won’t miss it 🙂
Definitely fix it.

Fix it for sure!! Or give it to me!! 🙂 I’d love to see the drawer fronts saved – they are beautiful!! Post lots and lots of pictures, too. I have a couple of pieces that have lost veneer and I’d love to know how to fix them!

A definite FIX-IT..
Thanks for commenting! I think out of 500 people 2 have said nix it lol
Annie Sloan chalk paint!!! I just did that to my vanity which looks similar. I love it!!!!
I would fix it. This has truly cravings so I would restore it to its natural beauty.
Fix it! I think you would be surprised how far a little sanding and some paint go on furniture that appears to be pretty rough. I think it has the potential to be super cute. Can’t wait to see what you do with it!
Oh yes, fix it! It’s a gorgeous piece of furniture. I can’t wait to see what you decide to do with it!
FIX IT! it is such a beautiful desk – I love the way the inlays appear to be a different type of wood. I would try to bring out the wood first – and if the desk is too damaged, then paint over it. Cant wait to see the end result.
Did you do something with it? would like to know, I am following you on Google, let me know K
