Hey Hey! As promised I’m back today to share my 13 (almost 14, ahem.) year old daughter’s bathroom refresh. We pulled this little makeover off in just one weekend and a total of about 6 hours, which includes cleaning, purging, planning, shopping & decorating. How you like me now tiny, dated, dirty bathroom?!
As you know from my previous post (if not, go read that one first!!) we cleared everything out of this room, purged all of Abigael’s stuff, made an organizational plan and then went shopping for some goodies. Then we got to decorating. I’m so excited to be able to share our timeline and budget breakdown to show y’all how easily a bathroom makeover can be.
It wasn’t really bad, just grimy, dingy and boring. I liked the classic black + white tile. Of course, I’d LOVE updated black + white tile too but that’s just not in the cards anytime soon. We already have one bathroom demo happening downstairs on the main floor. Focus, or something like that. Enough from me!
Saturday Morning — 2 hours
We pulled everything out of this room, cleaned it from top to bottom. I love Mrs. Meyer’s Multi-Surface concentrate in Basil scent for pretty much everything. And also, Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. When you love white walls like I do, these are a MUST! After everything was out and the room was clean, we went through everything we pulled out and purged the junk. I’m a ruthless purger. I am, generally, not that sentimental about objects. If my family would comply I’d be a minimalist. So, it’s their fault 😉 Next we made a plan for the storage things we needed to re-use from shopping the house or buy for new needs.
Saturday Afternoon — 2 hours
We went shopping!! We bought everything we needed with a SMALL budget in mind and didn’t veer off from our plan. In and out and on budget. Woot!!
Sunday Afternoon — 2 hours
Decorating! We started putting everything away it’s new home and hanging the wall decor and shower curtain.
Total Time — 6 hours!!!
I say all of this just show y’all that makeovers or refreshes do NOT have to be long, drawn out, expensive processes. There is another way. Of course, there is a time and place for those, but something you just need to know a quick fluff is all you need and totally do-able.
