Hey Hey!! As you all know from Sophia’s bedroom reveal she LOOOOVES animals. She even has her own pet bunny, Hoppie, who inspired this little DIY Bunny Clock. This bunny clock tutorial is so easy and it’s just so adorable!
Materials Needed for DIY Bunny Clock
1 Strip Balsa Wood
Something round/oblong/oval for tracing
Pencil
AA Battery
Steps: This is seriously a SUPER EASY little project! Don’t let any of these materials intimidate you!!! I left my wood raw because I love the look but if you want something painted on yours, now is the time to do that. I just free handed a little bunny nose and whiskers. I didn’t mind any imperfections because it’s supposed to be a little whimsical 🙂
Next I followed the directions on my clock kit. It’s pretty simple, just make sure you pay attention to the order you are supposed to put each hand on. I chose to leave the numbers off for a more modern, clean look.
After you have your clock mechanism all set it’s time to glue on the bunny ears. So fun!! I used a little paper ice cream bowl to get the rounded edge I needed on my balsa strip. Then used regular old scissors to cut along my rounded pencil line. Balsa is super easy to work with and cut. I used 1/8 inch thick but if I had it to do again I would probably buy 1/4 inch thick.
Now, you can make your ears in whatever shape you choose. I liked the look of these rounded but you could easily print out a template to trace to get the shape you want. I used a little wood glue on each ear and stuck them to the back of the wood clock round. Let your glue dry and you are done!
Isn’t he cute leaned against the wall on these DIY Leather + Wood Shelves? Here are a few more posts from Sophia’s bedroom makeover.
Great Idea !!
I still have a wall or two that needs some attention.
Thanks!
