We have a serious eyesore in our house. It’s so bad I don’t let people other than family go in. It’s our main floor bathroom. I’m embarrassed to say we’ve lived in our house for 5 year with it like this. So incredibly ugly! This bathroom sits under the stairs so it’s super small but had a standup shower, toilet and sink. That’s potential! We’ve decided to demo it and remodel. I’m like Jesse Spano excited about this. No more directing people to the upstairs bathrooms. No more ugly two-toned 1970’s tile. It’s kind of funny how this bathroom remodel came about. One day I went in there to use the bathroom and could not even take it one more second. I got up, found a putty knife and started popping tiles off the wall. Imagine my husband’s surprise when he came home from work that evening…
Here are the SCARY before photos:
Why the double towel bars for such a small space? There was also a corner cabinet hanging here….but why?? It was the first thing to go. You’ll also notice there was some water damage and missing tiles on the lower part on the wall, by the shower door. The leak must have happened before we bought the house but the damage was never repaired.
The vent hasn’t been working properly for a while and because of that there has been moisture, causing rust on the vent cover itself and on the beautiful brass light fixture (ew).
So yeah, pretty awful. But here’s the good news!
Bathroom Remodel Plans
We are buying a new toilet, sink and installing a new shower insert. We are also planning to add mosaic tiles to the shower’s surface. But my favorite part? We are pulling up the floor tile and putting in this AMAZING tile I found at Build Direct. It’s matte black porcelain triangles and they make me swoon. So perfect for this space!! We also picked out a round mirror from Target and affordable light fixtures and linens from Amazon. Shop the entire inspiration board below by hovering over the photo and clicking the product. Stay tuned for a progress post soon! I’ll be in there demoing that nasty tile alllll week.
