Hello, Hello!! Things have come together great in my daughter’s bedroom, who is now the big 6!! One of her favorite things in the room is this little woodland mouse door. A couple of Halloweens ago I decorated with mice and doors on the stairs. She loved them so much that when I took them down she asked to keep one mouse and one door in her bedroom and of course I said yes. Well, fast forward a couple of months and the paper/glue was pretty tattered so I started looking for a more durable solution.
Luckily, I stumbled upon this little door for $5 at a yard sale. I could have attached it to the wall by the baseboard and been on my merry way. But y’all know I can’t leave well enough alone. I didn’t think the colors looked very good in her neutral bedroom. The door stuck out like a sore thumb and I wanted it to be less “LOOK AT ME” and more”…ohhh, there’s a little mouse door….”
So I did what I usually do when something isn’t quite right. I pulled out the paint!! I used 2 colors of chalk paint and a little liquid gold leaf. I mixed and rubbed randomly until it looked how I wanted it to. Just go for it. It’s chalk paint, so if worse came to worst I could wash it off and start over. I also used black to cover the brown that was on the round window. The yellow glows in the dark so I didn’t want to cover that. Once I had the colors how I wanted I set it aside to dry.
To attach to the wall I put a velcro 3M picture hanging strip on the back and stuck it to the wall. She has pretty chunky molding in here so I just sat it right on op of the quarter round next to her closet.
Isn’t it ADORABLE?! She loves it which means I love it. She sometimes lays down on her tummy and plays with her animals by the door. How sweet, I know!
SO super sweet!
That is just so cute! I might just have to make one for our home.
Oh how I wish I could have a mouse door. Any idea where you could purchase one?
It is positively adorable.
That’s so cute! I have a little fairy door on one of my walls. It gets the funniest reaction from people who look at me like…you really believe in fairies? No, I just think it’s cute. 🙂
