Well hello there Houseologie readers! Emily from Table & Hearth here with you today! At T&H, I share all kinds of DIY projects, home decor ideas, crafts, as well as yummy recipes and monthly challenges with other home and food blogger buddies. I would love if you’d follow along with me!
Today, I’ve got a quick and easy little DIY to share with you guys. A while back, I made this neat magazine holder out of wooden dowels, copper pipe fittings, and some cheap felt fabric for my husband’ss endless magazines, all inspired by this Anthropologie set. We absolutely loved it so I decided to make him another little accessory to match, a holder for his cell phone.
This little guy takes all of 30 minutes or so to make and just has five simple supplies:
– (1) 1/4″ wooden dowel, stained if you desire (I used Minwax Dark Walnut), cut into (2) 8″, (2) 5″, and (4) 2″ pieces.
– (8) 1/4″ copper pipe elbows
– Fabric glue or sewing machine
– scrap piece of fabric (I used gray felt)
– handsaw or jigsaw
Now, I own a sewing machine, but until I get ALOT more bonded with that thing, simple fabric projects I do are glued. And it’s glorious. You can totally sew this though if you’d like, especially if you’re using fabric that needs a clean edge or leather. All you’ll need to do to make the “sling” is measure how wide you’d like your holder to be based on phone size, then cut your piece about two inches wider than that. Find where you’ll need to fold it over so that it’ll have plenty of room for the dowels, then glue it down and hold it for a minute or so until it stays.
Once your sling is nice and dry, slide the 8″ pieces of wood through them, then start assembling your holder by just pushing the wood into the fittings. It’ll be a nice snug fit so you don’t have to glue them or anything (thank goodness). Also, this will cover up any rough edges from cutting so don’t worry about those (again, thank goodness).
That’s it! Plop your telly in there and enjoy!
Thanks so much to Leigh Anne for having me today, I hope you guys enjoy!

This is such a fun and creative idea- it would look great with the book holder you also made! Thanks!
