Hey friends! Have you ever walked into a room that you hate, let out a big sigh, walked out and closed the doors behind you? If I’m being honest I have more than one room I do that to (I mean, I have a 12 year old daughter 😉 ). However, my laundry room is THE WORST! It was such a mess. I’ve got the pictures to prove it too, but don’t worry I got this room super clean by vacuuming every square inch!
Meet our laundry room. Scary, right? What happens in this room is clutter then that leads to dirt , dust and general yuckiness. I don’t have a designated spot for all of my craft and DIY paraphernalia in here but I do sometimes use the surfaces to craft, when they’re clean. I’d like to turn this laundry room into a multi-use space for laundry, crafts, DIY & some household storage. As you can see only one side of the room is needed for laundry. We have a chest freezer in here and the litter box. Love my kitties but not their nasty mess! The freezer will be relocated and I have a plan for the litter box.
How to get this room CLEAN and Makeover Ready!
Knowing that great makeovers start with clean rooms I started clearing out the room and throwing away a lot of junk. Ever feel like the lady in this video? Cleaning is a never ending task! I know you’ve been there before too!
Next, I got to work with my Eureka SuctionSeal 2.0 that I purchased at Walmart. You can find it in Housewares with all of the other jealous vacuums 😉
This vacuum seriously knows what’s up! It has made my life much easier. It’s super powerful and does not scatter debris (I’m talking to you, kitty litter and gold glitter!) thanks to the SuctionSeal plates that raise and lower against the surface you are vacuuming.
This vacuum did a fantastic job cleaning up all of the dust and debris my room has accumulated. I even used it on the dryer lent trap, worked amazingly well because of Air Speed technology that allows the use of a wide tube of air with minimal bends and twists. I used the attachments on the vacuum cleaner to get way back in my cabinets and to suck down the cobwebs in the corners. I really neglected this room and it showed but it only took about and hour to clean and put back together.
Now for the Makeover Plan
I mentioned I wanted this room to be for Crafts and DIY. Those two things are a huge part of my life so I think making a space in my home for them is important. I will be adding a solid surface on both sides of the room. One over the washer and dryer for folding and so we can stop losing things behind there already! Plus another work surface on the side of the room where you see the chest freezer and cabinet.
There will also be other goodies like pretty storage boxes, a big pop of color and amazing peg board on the walls! Getting this room clean has really got me excited for the makeover. It has to work double duty which means I have to stay on top of my organizing game. That leads me to how I’m going to keep this room in tip top shape.
Next Up – Easily Maintain the Clean
Sometimes I clean a room and have good intentions to keep it that way but life and too much stuff gets in the way. Having a plan will help with this. Once the room is finished I will definitely be keeping my Eureka SuctionSeal 2.0 handy. The attachments, including a wand and a brush will be perfect for cleaning up my craft messes like glitter, paper pieces, fabric strings and let’s be honest, the Goldfish crumbs my 5 year old tracks pretty much every where around here. The retractable cord saves valuable time. No more winding the cord around two hooks, just push a button!
At just $129 on Rollback at Walmart this vacuum cleaner is my new favorite tool! I’m looking forward to having a clean space to work in and sharing all of the updates with you guys! Getting this room clean was step 1, now I have a lot more work to do!
Wow, Leigh Anne! I can’t wait to see how you turn this do-it-all room into a do-it-yourselfers dream room! It’s going to be awesome now that you’ve gotten rid of cob webs, clutter and kitty litter! Good thing you’ve got the right tool to get it prepped and ready.
Thank you Carrie! Can’t wait to share this clean room transformed into a crafter’s dream!
Oh Leigh Anne can’t wait to see your crafter’s room! I am sure it is going to be amazing!
oh nice! I wish I had a space like this! I totally vacuum my lint vent as well, it’s such a fire hazard that can easily be prevented.
Yes! I always vacuum the lent trap!
I love that the Eureka has a retractable cord!! I’ve never seen that feature on a vacuum before. I can’t wait to see this space when you’re done with it, Leigh Anne!!
Isn’t the cord awesome?! That’s one of my fave features!
Oooh, I can’t wait to see what you do! And I totally have vacuum envy now 🙂
Thank you Tasha, it’s going to be a fun room to makeover!
My laundry room could really use this kind of treatment: a good cleaning and makeover. I’ll check back to see what you do with yours 🙂
